Maryland TOU Pilots May Achieve Significant Peak Reductions for Customers: Dr. Ahmad Faruqui to Present Brattle Research Findings at PLMA Conference
Brattle Principal Dr. Ahmad Faruqui will participate in a panel on the efficacy of time-of-use (TOU) rates at the 43rd Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA) Conference, which will take place virtually May 10–12.
Dr. Faruqui will join “The Power of Highly Personalized Experiences for TOU Customers” on Tuesday, May 11, from 11:00–11:45 a.m. (PT) | 2:00–2:45 p.m. (ET), where he will discuss a 2020 Brattle report prepared for Maryland Joint Utilities on TOU rate pilots. Brattle’s analysis found that the opt-in pilots – introduced in 2019 by three of Maryland’s utility providers to help advance grid modernization – brought reduced summer peak demands and resulted in bill savings of up to 10% for all classes of TOU customers.
