Brattle Principal Ahmad Faruqui will participate in the Harvard Electricity Policy Group’s (HEPG) 89th Plenary Session, taking place January 25-26, 2018 in Palm Beach, Florida.
The HEPG serves as a vehicle for exploring the many pressing policy issues surrounding electricity restructuring, emphasizing the research and analytical dimension of investigating and improving understanding of the underlying problems.
Dr. Faruqui will participate during the session, “Demand Charges: Can they be Internalized in Dynamic Pricing Without Diluting Efficient Price Signals?” The session will examine several key questions, including: whether the prospect of dynamic pricing better reflecting the prices in the energy market obviates the need for demand price signals; whether meaningful dynamic prices internalize demand costs; and whether demand charges play a critical role in providing price signals to end users.
