Dr. Bañez has experience advising private and public sector clients on valuation, pricing, and regulatory matters for a wide range of industries, from energy to financial services.
On behalf of both claimants and respondents, Dr. Bañez conducts regulatory and damages assessments in arbitration and litigation matters. This includes projects related to conventional and renewable energy power plants, oil and gas, district heating, financial services, and transport. He regularly advises on regulatory issues and develops sophisticated electricity prices and financial models.
Dr. Banez has advised clients on cases and testified on damages before key arbitration venues, including expert testimony for arbitrations in the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) that amounted to damages claims of about €1.5 billion. He has experience advising on matters before ICSID, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), and Spanish, English, and New Zealand tribunals.
While working on his PhD in Engineering, Dr. Banez’s research focused on the integration of renewable energy and the benefits of the expansion of the electric power network. His work has appeared in scientific journals, including Applied Energy and Energy.
