Belonging at Brattle
As a global economic consulting firm with 14 offices around the world, we recognize that our people are our strongest asset. This means that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles are fundamental to our success. We are committed to making everyone feel welcome at Brattle and strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
Getting Involved with DEI at Brattle
Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are volunteer groups founded and led by employees and supported by the firm. Each year, our DEI team and ERGs host guest speakers, organize guest panels, and hold several other firm-wide events, from trivia competitions to cooking demonstrations. These events have focused on topics ranging from the legacy of Sadie Alexander, the first Black American to earn a PhD in Economics; the power of multicultural representation; the economic struggles of the transgender community; strategies for dealing with bullying among children and teens; and giving voice to the Latinx immigrant experience.
Careers Navigation
We currently have four active ERGs:
- Brattle’s Asian & Pacific Islander ERG (API) is dedicated to fostering an open and inclusive environment for API colleagues and allies within Brattle. Through networking, career development discussions, and educational events, API aims to empower API colleagues in the workplace and celebrate cross-cultural diversity among the API community.
- BCaring provides additional support for parents, other caregivers, and their allies. BCaring hopes to provide resources such as publications, information on existing benefits, and tips from other Brattlers for various stages of child development, work-life balance, and other challenges.
- BProud is Brattle’s ERG for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies. The overarching purpose of BProud is to provide support for LGBTQ+ individuals and deepen Brattle’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. BProud helps achieve this outcome by increasing the visibility of LGBTQ+ individuals at Brattle, holding events, creating a formal channel through with LGBTQ+ employees can report problems or discrimination due to identity, creating a support network, and encouraging LGBTQ+ recruiting.
- The Brattle Women’s Network (BWN) is a diverse community group formally dedicated to supporting and advancing women-identifying individuals at Brattle. By working together to promote gender diversity and inclusiveness through speaker series, networking events, reading groups, and more, BWN strives to elevate every employee’s work experience. BWN’s mission is to help develop an equitable culture that improves the overall quality of our work and our lives.
Hear from Our People
Life at Brattle
“I learned about the Brattle Women’s Network during the application process, and joined as soon as I started at Brattle! I’ve found it really rewarding to feel like I’m a part of something bigger than my day-to-day job, and it’s been a wonderful way to connect with women around the firm who I might not have crossed paths with otherwise.”
– Linnea Coffin | Learning & Development Coordinator | Boston
“Brattle is very open to members of all protected classes and provides ample immigration support. There are women and ethnic minorities in all rungs of the firm, from partner to undergrad recruits.”
– Excerpt from Brattle’s 2023 Firsthand/Vault Consulting 50 survey
Recent Brattle Events
“Professor Nina Banks was a brilliant speaker. I could have listened to her talk [about Sadie Alexander] for another 3 hours and been satisfied. This was a great choice for [a Black History Month event].”
– Abbe Anderson | Consultant | San Francisco
