Two Brattle Teams Recognized with American Antitrust Institute 2022 Antitrust Enforcement Awards
The American Antitrust Institute (AAI) has selected two respective teams of Brattle experts as Honorees of the 2022 Antitrust Enforcement Awards in the “Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Economics” category. Brattle won two of the three awards in the economics category.
In one matter, a Brattle team and Nobel Laureate Prof. Joseph Stiglitz were selected as Honorees for their work on the private antitrust matter US Airways, Inc. v. Sabre Holdings Corp. Working on behalf of US Airways, Brattle experts analyzed monopolization in the context of multi-sided transaction platforms – a first for this type of case – and developed bespoke economic models to prevail on Section 2 liability for US Airways and measure damages. Prof. Stiglitz and Brattle Principal Dr. Rosa Abrantes-Metz testified in the case.

In the other matter, a team of Brattle consultants have been selected as Honorees for their work on In re: Packaged Seafood Products Antitrust Litigation. In the case, where it was alleged that the US’s three largest domestic producers of packaged tuna engaged in anticompetitive conduct, Brattle provided expert testimony estimating damages owed to end-payer plaintiffs on a class-wide basis. Former Brattle Principal Prof. David Sunding testified in the case.

AAI’s panel of attorneys, professors, and industry leaders have honored these matters based on their contribution to the development of antitrust-related economic methodology, analysis, and/or presentation; and positive developments to antitrust policy. The awards will be presented at a gala on Wednesday, November 9, in Washington, DC.
